
I wandered off from the party… the stars caught my attention and I wanted a moment alone with them. I was wondering how many people were looking at the same star. Once the only light that could find me was from the skies, I flopped to my back in a cushion of grass, refreshed by the splash of dew. The air was so perfect out here with no vehicles to taint it… Only the bonfire snacks to tease our senses.
The crickets were going wild and I could hear footsteps crunching on the gravel road towards me. I smiled over the idea of scaring him, but I just watched. His silhouette was poetic in the darkness, and I was crushing on my boyfriend’s best friend.
